Day 140 - Iquique, Chile
Today we finally explored a bit more of Iquique. First on foot we headed into the town centre and checked out the main square, a market and then via the post office to catch lunch at The Bowl restaurant. The lunch was good enough but the most memorable thing was that about half way through the table started wobbling and then as we tried to figure out what was going on it dawned on us this was actually a minor tremor! Apparently these are very common in Chile but it was the first time I'd ever experienced once. Kind of cool and kind of freaky at the same time.
After lunch we caught a taxi to the Zofri - a tax free distrcit with heaps of shops - where we wandered around mostly just browsing apart from also keeping an eye out for new hiking shoes for Sandra. After a few hours I was shopped out so we took another taxi back towards our hostel to a regular shopping centre and indulged in a trip to the movies (we saw the Hangover Part 2, funny but not as good as the original). In the evening we realised we were both pretty worn out and so had an earlyish one ahead of our departure tomorrow.
