Tokyo Tower & Akihabara

We started the day off today with a visit to Tokyo Tower! It's pretty close to our hotel so we walked there. The walk was nice because we passed through Zojoji Temple. A beautiful temple on it's own terms, but especially striking with the huge Tokyo Tower looming behind it.

When we arrived at Tokyo Tower we were quite surprised at just how massive it really was! We've seen countless photos of it, but when you're standing at it's base it looks a LOT different. There was a lovely crepe shop next to the entrance which served as our breakfast/lunch... so good! The tower was awesome... even cooler than I thought it would be! There were 2 observation decks (at 150 & 250 meters up) and both offered fantastic views of Tokyo... we could see for miles in every direction! A very unique place and I'm so glad we decided to go!

Afterwards, we ventured to Akihabara, or Tokyo's "Electric Town" as it's known, because the area filled with all kinds of electronic shops. We went as the sun was going down so it was quite cold... also most of the lights were off (to save power), so it wasn't as impressive as we had hoped. We soon wandered into Yodobashi Kamera, an awesome store with many floors filled with toys, electronics, CDs, DVDs, you name it. It was like a Target, Walmart & Best Buy rolled into one. SO much stuff to look at your eyes don't even know what to do! We had lots of fun and spent some coin ;)

Now we're back at the hotel washing our clothes and trying to get our bags packed because tomorrow we're headed for Kyoto!
